The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) is pleased to award $ 10,000 to the Belmont Child Care Association, Inc. (BCCA) to be used for educational purposes.
BCCA’s mission is to provide a safe, nurturing and academically inspiring environment for children of parents working in the Thoroughbred Racing Backcourt located in historic Belmont Park, Aqueduct Racecourse and Racecourse. from Saratoga to New York.
BCCA received funds from TERF in 2019 and 2020, which were used for its early childhood education program.
In keeping with its mission to promote equine education by supporting organizations that raise awareness about proper horse care, TERF has continued to offer its financial assistance in 2021. BCCA will use the funding for its early childhood education program which integrates a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) based curriculum to prepare students for elementary school while having fun and developing physically, emotionally, socially and cognitively .
TERF’s grants reflect the values articulated by founders Herb and Ellen Moelis. TERF’s current board includes Co-Chairs Kathleen Anderson DVM and James Orsini DVM, Margaret H. Duprey, Gretchen and Roy Jackson, Ellen and Herb Moelis, Wendy Moon, Anita Motion, Toni Orsini, Scott Palmer VMD, Josh Pons, Lucy Zungailia, Katelyn Jackson and Lynn Cassimeris, Ph.D.
