The organizers of a school vacation program say it will return for Christmas after thousands of children participate in the program over the summer vacation.
The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) initiative was funded by the Department of Education and designed to support young people who normally receive free school meals.
Staffordshire County Council worked with 22 local organizations to organize sessions such as dodge ball, archery, circus skills and horseback riding.
Children and Youth Cabinet Member Cllr Mark Sutton said a similar program would run from Dec.20 to Dec.30.
“By working with great local providers, we have been able to provide an incredible range of activities for thousands of low-income children and families.
“This is a very important program, which is to give extra help to parents and guardians by providing them with good food and organized activities, so that the children are well nourished and occupied during the school holidays.
“It’s great that we’ve been able to support so many families and now we can’t wait to offer a similar program over the Christmas holidays.”
